With social media marketing gaining popularity fast, a lot of people are seeing the benefit of Facebook pages and asking “How can I get more Facebook fans?”. In this post I am going to give you my best tips for growing your fan page AND how to attract the right kind of fans that will interact and recommend you to friends.

Why Should I Want To Get More Facebook Fans?

For those of you that may be new to Facebook or social media marketing, you may be wondering why you should be building up a fan page and why the quality of your fans is important. Well, as with any social media platform, building up a following of people allows you to communicate with them more effectively, build relationships with hundreds or even thousands of people on a mass scale and become more ‘real’ and personal.

There are so many services out there where you can actually BUY fans. Why is this a bad idea? Because they are not people that are interested in what you have to say or do. You are better to build up TRUE fans, because they will make your page more of a community and recommend you to their friends every time they interact….because it shows on their Facebook wall. This is where viral internet marketing comes in to play. when you understand that you are not just trying to get more Facebook fans, but you are trying to build a loyal following you will have much more success in your business.

Step 1 To Get More Facebook Fans

Probably NOT Your Target Fans

Interact with the fans you already have. Even if it’s just 5 people, by getting those 5 people to interact with you on your page you are increasing your exposure (because their interaction with your page shows on their wall for all their friends to see) but you are also turning your page into a place that people can become a PART of. People love to be a part of something, make it a friendly place that they want to join in with.

Step 2 To Get More Facebook Fans

Produce quality content. Write notes, share blog posts, create videos all giving your target fans something to dig their teeth into. The more value you can give them, the more of a strong following you can create.

Take the content that you have created and share it on relevant groups, tag people that you mention (NO tag-spamming!) and give them a call to action, getting them to check out your fan page if they haven’t already.

Step 3 To Get More Facebook Fans

Use your email list. If you have been building a list (if not read this post about how to build a list) then you can encourage your subscribers to step out from behind their email inbox and join in the fun on your fan page. Just send out a broadcast, or even put it in your autoresponder sequence, asking people if they have connected with you on Facebook yet. Simple.

Looking after your Facebook fans

Remember, your fans have the potential to help you grow your business VIRALLY. Interact with them, encourage them, answer their questions, send them useful content and give ‘em lots of love and it will return to you in bucket loads.

When I update my blog, I post a link of the update on my FB fan page. I get the feeling that fans might miss the post in their newsfeed, so should I re-post? I just want to avoid spamming though
